WLGA
PACE OF PLAY PRINCIPLES
- Play “Ready Golf”.
- Keep up with the group in front of you.
- Plan your shot while walking to your ball or while others are playing.
- Take several clubs with you to your ball so you won’t have to walk back to the cart.
- Be ready to play when it is your turn to play.
- Exit the green promptly after holing out. Record scores and replace clubs at the next teeing area.
- Line up your putt when others are putting.
- Play 2 balls if uncertain of correct procedure. Report facts to Pro and WLGA rules person before returning scorecard.
- Play a provisional ball if you think the original might be lost outside a penalty area, out of bounds, or unsure if ball has cleared a penalty area.
- Do not search more than the permitted 3 minutes for a potentially lost ball.
- Leave the flagstick in the hole when putting (no penalty if ball hits the flagstick).
- Pick up your ball after the maximum number of strokes is played (12).
- Take only one practice swing.
- When you arrive at a tee box, exit your cart as quickly as you can and have your ball, tee, and club ready for your turn (don’t sit in your cart waiting).
- When riding in a cart, pull up next to your ball (when possible) and consult your GPS phone or watch there – do NOT get out of your cart, walk over to the ball, then come back to your cart for your club.
- Put your mark on your balls before play. Show your mark to others in your group at the first tee box.
