WLGA

PACE OF PLAY PRINCIPLES

  1. Play “Ready Golf”.
  2. Keep up with the group in front of you.
  3. Plan your shot while walking to your ball or while others are playing.
  4. Take several clubs with you to your ball so you won’t have to walk back to the cart.
  5. Be ready to play when it is your turn to play.
  6. Exit the green promptly after holing out.  Record scores and replace clubs at the next teeing area.
  7. Line up your putt when others are putting.
  8. Play 2 balls if uncertain of correct procedure.  Report facts to Pro and WLGA rules person before returning scorecard.
  9. Play a provisional ball if you think the original might be lost outside a penalty area, out of bounds, or unsure if ball has cleared a penalty area.
  10. Do not search more than the permitted 3 minutes for a potentially lost ball.
  11. Leave the flagstick in the hole when putting (no penalty if ball hits the flagstick).
  12. Pick up your ball after the maximum number of strokes is played (12).
  13. Take only one practice swing.
  14. When you arrive at a tee box, exit your cart as quickly as you can and have your ball, tee, and club ready for your turn (don’t sit in your cart waiting).
  15. When riding in a cart, pull up next to your ball (when possible) and consult your GPS phone or watch there – do NOT get out of your cart, walk over to the ball, then come back to your cart for your club.
  16. Put your mark on your balls before play. Show your mark to others in your group at the first tee box.
