Proposed Local Rules @ Woodmont

Local Rule Scorecard Summary

  1. Out of Bounds - A ball coming to rest on or beyond any road running through or adjacent to the golf course is Out of Bounds, even if it comes to rest on another part of the course.  Out of Bounds is also indicated on the golf course by green or white posts.

  1. Provisional Ball for Ball in a Penalty Area - If it is unclear if a ball has cleared a penalty area, a provisional ball may be played from an appropriate place for that penalty area. The player may also play from a dropping zone, if available. The original ball or provisional ball may be played even if the original ball is found in the penalty area.

  1. Dropping Zones - Dropping Zones are provided on the following holes:
  • Hole 11 – on Forward teeing area
  • Hole 14 – on fairway side of penalty area, in fairway near bridge for approach shots to the green only
  • Hole 15 – in front of Match teeing area, for tee shots
  • Hole 16 – on fairway side of 2nd creek, in fairway near foot bridge
  • Hole 17 – on fairway side of pond, in fairway for approach shots to the green only

  1. Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds - If a ball is not found or is known to be Out of Bounds, an additional option, for 2 Penalty Strokes, is to drop and play a ball in a relief area, in the general area, defined by the point where the ball is estimated to be, lined up with the edge of the fairway, and includes 2 club lengths into the fairway, not nearer the hole.

  1. Mulch Beds – A ball coming to rest in an edged border (trench) of any mulch bed may be dropped in the bed within 1 club length of its original position, no closer to the hole. No Penalty.

  1. Immovable Obstruction Close to Putting Green - A player may take free relief if a sprinkler head is on the line of play and is within 2 club lengths of the putting green and within 2 club lengths of the ball.

  1. Temporary Immovable Obstructions – Fans have been placed on the course to assist in caring for the greens. Free relief is permitted if the TIO interferes with the lie of the ball, area of intended swing, stance or is on the line of sight to the hole. Interference exists if the ball lies within 1 club length of the edge of the TIO. Relief is available within 1 club length of the nearest point of relief, free of interference, no closer to the hole.
