WLGA Annual Awards Guidelines

The Woodmont Ladies Golf Association consists of two organized leagues and three play days :

  • 18 Holes
    • Ladies of the Links (LOL) – Tuesday
    • Diamonds - Saturday
  • 9 Holes
    • Gals Above Par (GAP) - Tuesday

Prizes are awarded at our End-of-Season Dinner in three categories;

Most Improved (2),  Ringer Award (2 per league), and Player of the Year (1)

The following criteria will be used to determine the winners of these awards:

  • Most Improved Awards – One 9 hole award and one 18 hole award - Goes to the players who have the most improved handicap, as determined by the GSGA handicap program.  The improvement will be determined from the handicaps at the beginning of league play until the last play day of that year.

  • Ringer Awards – 2 awards per league are awarded - On league play days, gross scores for each hole are recorded on a card provided by the coordinators.  Only the improved score on each hole is recorded after play on play days. The player’s end-of-season handicap is subtracted from the total of the lowest scores recorded on each of the 18 holes.  There will be an award presented for the best low net and best low gross scores of each league (9 holes and 18 holes). A total of 4 awards will be presented.

  • Eligibility – Player must be a member of Woodmont Golf and Country Club and the WLGA.  To be eligible for end-of-year prizes in a league, a member must play a minimum number of times in either the 9 hole or 18 hole league play days.

A member, who has won an award, then becomes ineligible to win that same award in the other league.  If a member qualifies to win the same award in more than one league, she will receive the award in the league in which she participates most.

  • Player of the Year – One award for the year – Points are earned during the year, based on a player’s participation in WLGA and club sponsored events, including play days, tournaments, special events, team play, and volunteer/leadership opportunities.  Point allocations are set by the Board at the beginning of the season and the award is made at the end of the playing season (usually after the Club Championship is played in October).
